About School

Khrist Raja High School (K.R.), Bettiah, is one of the educational institutions besides K.R. Evening School and St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School that operates in the K.R. Campus under K.R.E.A. (Khrist Raja Educational Association). This institution which completes 83 years of its glorious existence this year is one of the oldest schools in West Champaran, Bihar, India. It is a Catholic Christian Minority Institution run by the Jesuits, the members of an International Catholic Religious Order. Jesuits have served people of all faiths, all over the world, as educators, scientists, explorers and social reformers since 1540. That centuries old tradition of service to others is the corner stone of Jesuit education. These same men responding to the needs of the times have done yeoman service in the field of education in this part of the state of Bihar, India through this school. In fact, if Champaran is in the education map of India a lion share of credit for this goes to K.R. It indeed has a glorious past and a vibrant present to boast of. Almost anyone who is ‘who is who’ of Bettiah and the neighboring towns, whether he is an artist, scientist, doctor, engineer, professor, politician, administrator, entrepreneur, high ranking defense officer or religious leader, would definitely credit K.R. for his achievement and the service to the nation he has rendered. The first batch of students, numbering just eleven, appeared for the Board Exam in 1931. The School was awarded the best school certificate for this achievement by the HRD minister, Bihar.
